Sophie Jones is a Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience working with people who have eating disorders, eating difficulties and body image concerns. Sophie works collaboratively and authentically with her clients within a strengths based approach to empower individuals to make change and work towards living a healthy, balanced and meaningful life.
Sophie has a warm and relaxed style, and she takes time to understand each individual client. Sophie creates a safe, non-judgemental space for her clients to be open, honest and curious about their own struggles. Sophie values building strong therapeutic alliances and she works alongside clients to develop a shared understanding of their concerns to inform an individually tailored treatment plan and approach to therapy.
Sophie utilises a range of evidence based practices in her work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapies for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) and Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM) for Eating Disorders. Sophie encourages the inclusion of family within treatment and she collaborates with other health professionals such as GPs, Dietitians and Psychiatrists as required.
Sophie has extensive experience as a Clinical Psychologist working in both private and public mental health settings. Sophie has a strong background in youth mental health having previously worked at headspace, Orygen Youth Health and CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service). In addition to her passion for working with individuals who experience eating difficulties, Sophie also has professional interest in working with people who experience anxiety disorders, perfectionism, trauma related disorders and obsessive compulsive disorders.
Alongside her role at Nourish Nurture Thrive, Sophie also currently works as an eating disorder specialist at BETRS (Body Image and Eating Disorders Treatment and Recovery Service) in the Day Patient Program and providing outpatient treatments with adults.
Sophie believes that anyone can make meaningful change in their life and that recovery from an eating disorder is possible. Through shared commitment, Sophie works to support clients to embark upon a journey to achieve their desired change.
