At Nourish. Nurture. Thrive. we provide therapeutic support for young people and their families. We offer speciality clinical assessments and treatment to children, adolescents and young adults experiencing difficulties with eating, weight and body image issues.
This includes (but is not limited to) people experiencing Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder or Other Specified or Unspecified Eating Disorders. We also work with people who are experiencing difficulties with eating, weight or body image issues, but who may not present with all the symptoms of a diagnosed eating disorder. Common problems we work with include: disordered eating behaviours; problematic dieting; weight management difficulties; emotional eating; excessive or compulsive exercising; “Orthorexia” (fixation on healthy, pure or clean eating); body dissatisfaction and negative body image; and poor self worth.
Our services include diagnostic assessments, individual therapy, family based therapies and a group therapy program. However, we understand that each person is unique and we tailor our treatment to suit your individual needs. We have a family orientated approach to treatment, and where appropriate, we work closely with families to help you overcome difficulties and achieve a sense of wellness. We also work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide a holistic care team approach.
Some of the treatments we offer include:
- Family Based Treatment (FBT/Maudsley Model)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E)
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Narrative Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
- Longer term psychotherapy
Our group program:
We offer two different group programs to provide additional support to young people and carers. Our Carer’s Support Group is for carers of young people with an eating disorder and offers opportunities to connect and share with other carers, as well as education and information about eating disorders.
Our Thrive Group is for young people experiencing an eating disorder. It is a wellness based program, with a strong focus on recovery and peer support. It is suitable for young people who feel ready to take the next steps in overcoming their difficulties in a supportive group environment.
